The RFE allows companies to introduce goods of foreign and national origin to a specific physical space, within or adjacent to a tax area, to carry out handling, storage, custody, exhibition, sale, processing, transformation or repair activities, with specific tax and customs benefits. Obtaining the corresponding authorization requires proving to the authority compliance with technical, infrastructure, operational and solvency requirements, as well as the correct authorization of the property in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Law and the applicable general rules of foreign trade. However, the initial authorization is only the first step: the operation under this scheme requires sustained compliance over time, given that it is one of the regimes with the greatest exposure to inspection acts.
