Authorized Economic Operator (OEA)

Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) is a voluntary program consisting of the joint efforts of Mexican Customs and the private sector through the implementation of internationally recognized minimum security standards, raising the security, reliability and certainty of customs operations and seeking benefits for those companies that wish to participate.

Basically the (AEO) is committed to streamlining and security from different angles in order to achieve a comprehensive program; which not only includes possible damages caused by an attack or threat that affects those directly involved and the country and its economy; but also the impact of health risks that may directly affect public health, or fraud derived with losses for intellectual property rights.

Being an AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) company offers you the following benefits before SAT:

Some of the general benefits that importing companies obtain with this certification are the following:

 

  • Decrease of 2% in customs recognition.
  • Importation of individually identifiable goods without noting the serial number, part number, brand, etc. on the customs declaration.
  • Rectification of petitions within the first 3 months without authorization (6.1.1).
  • 10 days to correct irregularities in the customs declaration when the authority detects excess merchandise for less than 15 thousand dollars by paying the fine. Article 184, section 1.
  • Dispatch of goods by express lanes when accrediting registration with FAST.
  • Transfer to resident companies of temporarily imported goods without physically presenting the goods at the corresponding customs offices.
  • Transfer of goods between IMMEX companies applying the corresponding PROSEC rate.
  • Doubling of the official term for internal transit for the import and export of goods.
  • Term of 6 months and extendable to another 6 months for the temporary export of goods that are part of equipment requiring repair or replacement of defective components.
  • Discharge of between 10 and 15% of the goods in customs examination with non-intrusive methods available to customs.
  • The “Demonstration of Value” is exempted.
  • 36 months of permanence in Mexican territory for goods imported under IMMEX protection.
