C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) is a joint government-business initiative aimed at building cooperative business relationships that strengthen and enhance the business value chain and border security in the United States.

The origin of this standard dates back to the September 11, 2001 attacks, mainly to the twin towers in New York City in the United States of America.

The purpose and scope of the standard is to define the necessary guidelines to reinforce security in the business value chain.
